Who We Are

About us

Thank you for your interest in the Austin Stitchery Guild. The group was formed in January 1976 when a group of local needlepoint enthusiasts formed the Austin Stitchery Guild, a chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America.

We have about 60 members in the Austin area and an additional 100 who have dual membership and live outside of the area. Stitchers of all levels of ability are warmly welcome to join us. Guild members’ interests encompass many areas of embroidery, including needlepoint, counted cross stitch, blackwork, quilting, applique, smocking, beading, French hand sewing, drawn and pulled thread work, Hardanger embroidery, Brazilian, and more. Lectures, workshops, correspondence courses, national and regional seminars, exhibits, and study/interest groups are offered. All chapter members are invited to attend any chapter activity. Come see what we’re about!

AFFILIATION: ASG is a chapter of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America in the South Central region.

PURPOSE: To promote excellence in the art of embroidery, which is defined as the embellishment of woven fabric with decorative stitches done with a needle with an eye.
